'Father of Environmental Justice' speaking at the 2021 Colloquium on the Environment

2021 Colloquium on the Environment featuring Dr. Robert Bullard, will take place virtually on April 1st at 7:00 pm EDT. Register Here

Co-hosted by our partners at the Penn State's Institutes of Energy and the Environment, Office of Human Resources, Office of Educational Equity, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and Sustainability Institute, the 2021 Colloquium on the Environment presents Dr. Robert Bullard, former dean of the Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs at Texas Southern University. Dr. Bullard has devoted his career to environmental justice, revealing how environmental issues correlating with systemic racism disproportionately impact marginalized communities based on race. Known as the "Father of Environmental Justice," his work has impacted sustainable and environmental development for decades.

With a total of 18 books on environmental racism, urban land use, climate justice and community resilience, Dr. Bullard's research has developed foundational standards for understanding how environmental issues disproportionately impact poor, working class populations and communities of color. In his keynote address, 'The Quest for Environmental and Climate Justice in the U.S,' Dr. Bullard will examine the barriers and solutions for environmental justice impacting those most vulnerable in our communities.
